The St. Petersburg Precision Alloy Plant continues to take active steps to implement the import substitution program, setting one of the most important goals — to reduce the share of imported stainless steel on the Russian market.
According to an analysis by experts from the Spetsstal Association, for the period from January to September 2023, the share of imported steel products in stainless steel consumption in Russia was 74.7%, while domestic products accounted for only 25.3%. The percentage of dependence is particularly high in the hot-rolled flat and cold-rolled steel — their share was 78.4% and 96.3%, respectively.
PZPS, realizing the importance of import substitution, is actively developing domestic production of stainless steel and precision alloys. Thanks to the work of highly qualified specialists and research center, the company is successfully developing analogues of foreign steels, such as cowar and inconel.
One of the key factors contributing to import substitution is the increase in production capacity. PZPS increases output stainless steels et precision alloys. This makes it possible to provide other industries with high-quality domestic cold-rolled strip that is not inferior to foreign analogues.
Maintaining import substitution plays a key role in developing domestic industry, creating new jobs and strengthening the country's financial stability. In addition, this helps to improve product quality and technological processes, reduces dependence on external suppliers and reduces the risks associated with changes in world prices for imported goods.
PZPS efforts import substitution products make a significant contribution to the country's sustainable economic development and confirm the company's strong desire to strengthen the domestic industry. The steps taken not only help to reduce dependence on imports, but also stimulate innovation and investment in domestic production.
