Metallurgist Day is a professional holiday that honors all employees of the metallurgical industry. It is celebrated annually on the third Sunday in July, and this year it falls on July 21.
The holiday was established in 1957 in the Soviet Union. At that time, the country's leadership highly appreciated the importance of the metallurgical industry for the restoration and development of the state. The decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of September 28, 1957 initiated the tradition of celebrating Metallurgist Day. This tradition was later confirmed by a series of decrees in October 1980 and November 1988.
For many years, this day has been an occasion for congratulations and awards to people involved in the metallurgical industry, from mining and processing metals to the manufacture of metal products. Their labor has a huge impact on the economy, supplying it with the necessary materials and resources.
