November 18 marks an important anniversary at the Steel Rolling Plant — the 60th anniversary of the founding of the precision alloy workshop. This is the building that now houses most of the production facilities St. Petersburg Precision Alloy Plant, has a rich history of achievement and innovation.
The history of the plant began in November 1963, when the Steel Rolling Plant began construction of the city's first smelting production unit precision alloys. In a few years, not only a modern building was built, but also a laboratory was created that is responsible for the exact ratio of chemical elements in alloys.
By early 1965, the building was ready for equipment installation, and in August of the same year, a team of steelworkers led by experienced engineers completed the first successful smelting. This period was also marked by the commissioning of the first rolling mill.
The launch of the workshop in the 1960s was a laborious and complex process that required the participation of proactive specialists. Eleven young metallurgical engineers and physicists, graduates of the country's leading technical universities (Leningrad Polytechnic Institute and Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys), joined the project. From the first steps, they demonstrated outstanding activity and participated in the struggle for technical progress in the precision alloy laboratory.
Throughout the company's history, close attention has been paid quality control. Strict adherence to technological processes and the exact ratio of chemical elements ensure the unique properties of precision alloys. The plant's laboratories play a key role in this process, maintaining the highest standard of product quality.
Today, 60 years later, the former precision alloy workshop continues to be in the spotlight, providing high-precision materials for various industries. Commitment to innovation and high quality manufactured products inspire the plant's employees to conquer new heights in the production of precision alloys.
