What metals are used in modern interiors

Steel and iron are traditionally associated with commercial and industrial premises. However, they are also widely used in decorating living spaces.

The world of interior design is constantly evolving, bringing with it new trends and styles. However, there is a material that stoically retains its relevance and demonstrates incredible versatility: metal. In modern interiors, it has become not only a source of style, but also a tool for creating unique atmospheric spaces.

It is impossible to establish the exact period when the first decorative elements appeared from gland et steels. Already at the time of the knights, they were actively used in the architecture of medieval castles. Wrought iron fireplace fireplaces, door bolts and hinges, as well as details for securing wooden furniture are all the result of the work of blacksmiths. But in those days, most of these elements were exclusively functional. On the other hand, it is safe to say that the knight's armor, brilliantly polished swords and wrought iron shields that adorned the inner walls of castles are true masterpieces of medieval steel decor.

Stylish iron and steel interiors

Since the advent of high-tech architecture and design, metal has become an integral part of it. Originated in the 70s. In the 20th century and flourished in the 80s, this style brought bold forms, practicality and minimalism to interiors. This contributed to the active use of glass, polymers, and, of course, metal, in particular, stainless steel. They have a number of important qualities — strength, reliability and durability. However, despite all the advantages, an excess of metal elements can make the interior too cold and deprive it of comfort.

Along with high-tech, the loft style is famous for its minimalism and conciseness, as well as its many metal elements. In the middle of the 20th century, bohemian tenants of closed factories, warehouses and other industrial premises often did not have the funds to remodel interiors, and therefore left the spaces in their original form. This is how the loft style was born, where steel stairs, concrete beams, metal pipes and brick walls became part of the design. Over time, this style has expanded beyond revitalized industrial areas to private homes and office buildings.

Modern interior trends prove that metal can be successfully integrated into almost any style — from elegant classics to cozy country music. Forged elements, metal fireplace finishes, steel stair railings, mirrored frames — all this is just a small part of the possibilities of using metal in design. Even old-style kitchen utensils and furniture with a metal frame quite organically complement the interior, creating a unique atmosphere.

The advantages of metal in the interior

Metal is used in the interior not only for its aesthetic features. It has a number of practical advantages:

  • durability — strong metal elements reduce future costs;
  • reliability — steel interior parts withstand high loads, ensuring stability and long service life;
  • moisture resistance — stainless steels and materials with anticorrosive coating retain their color and quality when exposed to moisture and other aggressive media;
  • easy maintenance — steel surfaces are easy to clean and require minimal effort to keep them in perfect condition;
  • environmental friendliness and hypoallergenicity — steely does not support the growth of mold, bacteria and fungi, which makes it a safe and healthy choice for the interior;
  • compatibility with other materials — steel harmonizes with various materials such as brick, concrete, wood, etc., creating interesting and attractive texture combinations.

Metal in modern interiors is not only an element of style, but also a tool for creating functional and elegant spaces. Its versatility and unique properties make it an indispensable component of modern design. However, as in any creative field, it's important to find the right balance and use metal with moderation.
