36NHTU is a dispersion-hardening metal. It has increased corrosion resistance and plasticity, as well as high elastic properties that remain at temperatures up to 250°C.
The 36NHTU precision alloy is an iron-chromium-nickel metal. It is highly resistant to corrosion in tropical and marine climates, as well as in various aggressive atmospheres. It is easy to solder and weld. It is characterized by increased plasticity, which makes it possible to manufacture various elastic elements of complex shapes from it: membranes, flat, coiled and cylindrical springs, etc.
Alloy composition and mass fractions alloying elements are regulated by GOST 10994-74. In accordance with this standard, the amount of chemical elements that make up 36NHTU must correspond to the following indicators:
The presented precision alloy has a triple base, including iron, chromium et nickel. Due to the combination of these elements, it has high plasticity, heat resistance and corrosion resistance. Addendum titanium allows you to increase strength and simplify metal processing. Aluminum increases the resistance to scale formation. Manganese has a positive effect on hardness and wear resistance. Silicon increases electrical resistance.
The name of the 36NHTU alloy indicates its composition. Letter N indicates the presence of nickel in the alloy, and the figure 36 before her — about its percentage (approximately 36%). X means that steel contains chromium, T indicates the presence of titanium, and the letter YU — for the presence of aluminum.
The strength of the 36NHTU precision alloy is not inferior to structural steels, so it can be used for the manufacture of elements operating under load. It can also be used in conditions of high humidity, oil-water emulsions, semi-synthetic, synthetic and mineral oils, in silicone-based process fluids.
The high elastic properties of 36NHTU steel are achieved due to the right composition and strictly controlled heat treatment conditions. Metal is hardened at temperatures from 920°C to 950°C, followed by cooling in water; dispersive hardening is performed at temperatures from 650°C to 680°C for 2-4 hours.
The presented metal can be easily processed by cutting and pressure. To improve the physical and mechanical characteristics before cold deformation, it is recommended to quench the alloy at temperatures from 950°C to 1250°C.
36NHTU steel belongs to alloys with specified elastic properties and, like all materials in this class, it has high elasticity and increased resistance to plastic deformations. Due to these properties, the presented metal is widely used in machine and instrument making: it is used for the manufacture of various membranes and sensors, as well as highly sensitive elements of measuring equipment. Another area of application of 36NHTU is medical equipment: injection needles are made from thin-walled pipes with a diameter of 0.8-2.0 mm.
Petersburg plant “PZPS” manufactures cold rolled strip made of 36NHTU alloy with a diameter of 0.005 to 4.0 mm in accordance with GOST 14117-85 or customer specifications.
